Privacy policy
Rate My Air collects as little as possible. There is no advertising network, no analytics, no tracking pixels and no cookies. This page sets out exactly what is collected, why, and what you can ask me to do about it.

Who is responsible
Rate My Air is run by Claudio Pisani as an individual. For anything in this policy, including a request about your own data, email [email protected].
When you just read the site
No cookies are set and nothing is tracked. There is no Google Analytics, no tag manager, no advertising or social media pixel, and no cross-site profiling.
One item is stored locally in your own browser: a value called ratemyair-theme, which
remembers whether you chose light, dark or system appearance. It never leaves your device, is not
readable by me, and you can clear it through your browser at any time.
The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical request data such as your IP address in order to serve pages and to protect the site from attack and abuse. I do not receive a log of individual visitors from this.
When you use the feedback form
The feedback form stores what you submit. That can include:
- your answers to the questions, including anything you type in a free-text box;
- the background you describe, and the options you select;
- your email address, only if you choose to give one;
- whether you offered to be contacted for a short conversation;
- the country your request came from and your browser's user-agent string, which help me tell genuine submissions from automated spam.
I ask you not to include health information, and the form says so. I do not want symptoms, diagnoses or medication details, and I cannot respond to anything clinical. If you send health details anyway, tell me and I will delete that submission.
Why I hold it: to understand whether the Breath Context idea is useful, to act on suggestions and corrections, and to reply to you if you asked for a reply. The lawful basis is your consent, which you give with the tick box on the form. You can withdraw it at any time.
How long: submissions are kept while they are still useful for that purpose and for no more than two years, then deleted. If you give an email address and ask for a reply, I delete the address once the exchange is finished.
What I never do: your answers are not sold, not shared for anyone else's marketing, not used to build a profile of you, and not added to a mailing list. There is no mailing list.
When you email me
Mail to [email protected] and [email protected] is handled by Zoho Mail, which stores the message in order to deliver it. I keep correspondence only as long as needed to deal with it.
Who else is involved
I use a small number of service providers. None of them receive your data for their own marketing.
- Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, the feedback database, and spam protection.
- Zoho Mail — email for the addresses above.
These providers operate internationally, so data may be processed outside the UK and the European Economic Area under the safeguards in their own data protection terms.
Spam protection
The feedback form uses a hidden field and a timing check to catch automated submissions. It may also use Cloudflare Turnstile, a privacy-focused alternative to CAPTCHA. Turnstile checks that a submission comes from a real browser rather than a script. It does not ask you to solve puzzles, and Cloudflare states that it does not use the data it collects for this to track people across sites or to serve advertising.
Affiliate links
Some articles contain affiliate links. If you follow one, the retailer's own site takes over, and its cookies and privacy policy apply, not this one. Following an affiliate link may let that retailer know the visit came from Rate My Air so a commission can be attributed. I do not receive your name, your address, or your payment details from that process. Affiliate links are disclosed where they appear and in the affiliate disclosure.
Children
This site is written for adults and is not directed at children. Please do not use the feedback form if you are under 16.
Your rights
Under UK and EU data protection law you can ask me to give you a copy of what I hold about you, correct it, delete it, restrict how it is used, or object to its use. You can also withdraw consent for a feedback submission at any time.
Email [email protected] and I will deal with it within one month. Because submissions are not tied to an account, it helps if you tell me roughly when you wrote and what about, so that I can find the right entry.
If you are not satisfied with how I have handled it, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk, or to the data protection authority where you live.
Changes to this policy
If what the site collects changes, this page changes with it and the date at the top is updated. Material changes will be noted here rather than made quietly.
